Electrical installation businesses in Alicante: buying, selling and valuation
Anyone looking for the number of electrical companies in the province of Alicante in the official statistics will not find it: at provincial level the INE (Spanish National Statistics Institute) groups all specialised building trades into a single division. That division totalled 8,885 active establishments in 2025, and Alicante accounted for 41.6% of the Valencian Community (Comunidad Valenciana) total. These are premises, not companies, and they range from electricians to demolition, roofing or finishing work.
Only at the level of the Valencian Community can you go one level down: the group covering electrical installations, plumbing and other construction installations had 9,321 active companies in 2025, operating from 10,131 premises. It still does not separate electricians from other installers, but it shows that the trade is part of a broad group of companies.

What affects the value of electrical installation businesses in Alicante
An electrical installation company can live off very different things: new-build work for developers and builders, refurbishments for private customers, maintenance of industrial units and shops, industrial installations, or charging points and solar self-consumption. Each type of customer carries a different risk, and the buyer will want to know what share of your turnover comes from each. Depending on one or two builders, for example, ties your fortunes to their projects.
Certifiable technical capability is central. What counts is who holds the company's authorisation and the category under which it is registered, how many operatives have accredited training and whether there is a technical manager other than the owner. If the owner disappears tomorrow and nobody can sign an installation certificate (boletín), the business stops; the buyer knows this and will discount it.
Maintenance contracts and the periodic inspections that regulations require for certain buildings and installations are repeat income that a buyer particularly appreciates. Keep to hand the list of customers under contract, how long they have been with you and the renewal terms.
Finally, the buyer will review work in progress and outstanding receivables. Accepted quotes and contracted work for the coming months provide visibility; overdue progress billings or customers in arrears, on the other hand, take value away. Clearly separating work already done from work still to be invoiced avoids arguments in the negotiation.

Frequently asked questions
Not officially by province. At that level the INE only publishes the full division of specialised construction, in which electricians are one of many trades. The most detailed figure, which groups electrical work, plumbing and other installations, only exists for the Valencian Community as a whole.
Not necessarily, but the buyer will look at concentration. If a few construction customers make up most of the turnover, they will ask about your relationship with them, payment terms and what would happen if one stopped calling. Diversifying before selling usually improves the valuation.
If the shares in the company are sold, the company remains the same and keeps its registration, provided it maintains the staffing and resource requirements. If only the business is sold to another company, the buyer will have to meet the requirements on its own account. It is worth confirming this with a legal adviser before choosing the structure.
They can, if they generate real turnover with a margin and if the team has the training to carry out the work. What the buyer pays for is proven profit, not the potential of a line that is not yet invoicing.
The usual candidates are other installation companies that need operatives or customers, integrated maintenance companies and experienced employed technicians who want to set up on their own.
