Electrical installation businesses in Valencia: buying, selling and valuation
An electrical installer can work for developers, for industry, for shops or for private customers, and each customer mix makes for a different business. In official statistics, all of them fall within specialised construction: in the province of Valencia there were 9,868 establishments of this kind as of 2025, representing 46.2% of the total for the Valencian Community (Comunidad Valenciana). Here, Valencia means the province of Valencia, not only the city.
That figure includes plumbers, HVAC firms, painters, floor layers and demolition companies, so it does not measure how many electrical companies exist. The INE (Spanish National Statistics Institute) does not publish electrical installation separately at provincial level. For the Valencian Community it does provide the group of electrical, plumbing and other installation, with 9,321 active companies, without distinguishing between them.

What affects the value of electrical installation businesses in Valencia
For a buyer, the key question is where the work comes from. A company that depends on two or three construction firms is exposed to the building cycle and to whatever those customers decide; another that combines industrial maintenance, shops and private customers spreads the risk better, even if each order is smaller.
Registration as an authorised installation company and the technicians' certifications are part of the asset. You need to check who is listed as technical manager, whether they will stay after the sale and what happens to the certificates and registrations in the company's name. A buyer does not want to find out after completion that they cannot sign off installations.
Also important are maintenance contracts for low- or medium-voltage installations, the team's capacity to take on sizeable projects, materials and vehicles, and the balance of receivables from customers. In companies that work on building projects, the buyer will scrutinise payment terms and retentions held as guarantees.
Illustrative example: two installers have the same turnover, but one earns half its income from a single developer while the other spreads its work across many maintenance customers. With similar profits, the second usually attracts more buyers and negotiates from a more comfortable position.

Frequently asked questions
Not separately. By province, the INE publishes specialised construction as a whole, in establishments, and at regional level the group that brings together electrical, plumbing and other installation. Neither of the two isolates electricians.
It depends on how the transaction is structured and on who the authorised technician is. If you sell the company and the technical manager stays, the activity can carry on as normal; if that technician is you and you leave, the buyer will have to fill that position. It is worth confirming this with a legal adviser before negotiating.
Not necessarily, but the buyer will see more risk if income depends on a few construction firms or on the pace of property development. Having signed contracts in the pipeline and a varied customer base offsets much of that concern.
Accounts for the last few financial years, a list of customers with their share of turnover, maintenance contracts, staff certifications, an inventory of vehicles and tools, projects in progress and outstanding receivables. The better organised it is, the fewer doubts the reviewer will have.
