Solar energy businesses in Valencia: buying, selling and valuation
There are no official statistics on solar energy companies by province. Photovoltaic installers are usually classified under electrical installation, and plants that sell electricity under energy supply, mixed in both cases with many other activities. That is why this page does not give a provincial figure for the sector. Here, Valencia means the province of Valencia, not only the city.
At the level of the Valencian Community (Comunidad Valenciana), the INE (Spanish National Statistics Institute) does publish two related groups. Electric power generation, transmission and distribution had 1,256 active companies as of 2025, which includes all electricity producers and distributors, not just solar ones. Electrical, plumbing and other installation brought together 9,321 companies, including installers of all kinds.

What affects the value of solar energy businesses in Valencia
A solar installer is valued, above all, on the quality of its project pipeline. Accepted quotes, signed projects awaiting execution and a steady flow of enquiries show the buyer that the business has work ahead. A company that lives only from one-off sales and has to generate its own customers every month is worth less than one with maintenance and monitoring contracts.
The type of customer changes the risk. Residential installation involves small and numerous jobs; self-consumption installations for businesses or industrial units involve larger amounts with long sales cycles; larger-scale projects depend on permits and grid connections. Knowing which part of profit comes from each segment helps the buyer work out how much it might vary.
Warranties given to customers on installations and output are a liability that travels with the company if the shares are sold. Reviewing what was promised, to whom and until when is an essential part of the analysis, and it is worth confirming their scope with a legal adviser.
If part of sales has relied on public subsidies, the buyer will want to understand what happens if those subsidies change. Technicians' certifications, agreements with manufacturers and distributors of panels and inverters, and the ability to handle legalisation procedures without depending on the owner will also carry weight.

Frequently asked questions
There is no official figure. The INE does not publish solar companies separately or by province. The closest data is regional and groups together all electricity producers and distributors or all electrical and plumbing installers.
A pipeline of signed projects, recurring maintenance income, customers spread across segments, a certified technical team that does not depend on the founder and well-controlled warranties. Turnover from a single good year counts for less than consistency.
If a significant part of sales is explained by subsidies with an end date, the buyer will discount that risk. Showing how demand behaves without subsidies, or what weight customers who do not need them carry, reduces uncertainty.
If the company is sold, the warranties remain within it and pass to the buyer, who will want protection in the contract. If only the assets are sold, it must be agreed who handles claims. It is worth confirming this with a legal adviser.
Electrical or HVAC companies that want to add photovoltaics to their offering, energy retailers seeking their own installation capacity, other installers growing through acquisitions, and investors interested in energy transition businesses.
